EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles

Background to the Stealth Goggles

The goggles are constructed from a soft rubber that adjusts to the shape of the face. The straps are also made of soft rubber and can be adjusted so that the goggles sit comfortably on the face. The infrared technology resides in the large plastic “eye” at the front of the goggles (This is probably where the name Eyeclops comes from I would imagine). The goggles is quite light (1.8 pounds) and will not cause fatigue if worn for any length of time. It requires 4 AA type batteries to operate. It’s dimensions are listed as 10″L x 12″W x 7″H. The goggles have two operating modes. The normal operating mode will emit red LED lights around the right eye piece. This is visible in darkness but it gives the wearer the ability to see up to 50 feet in darkness. The other mode is known as the stealth mode. It does not emit and red lights so in darkness the wearer can go undetected. However the distance that the wearer can see is reduced.

The wearer sees only one screen of vision so peripheral vision may be lost. Also depth perception may be diminished too. One reviewer of the product described using the goggles as if you were gazing through the end of a toilet roll. This is an apt description but I would say that the screen is larger than a the diameter of a standard toilet roll.

The wearer can choose between black and white vision to green screen vision (as you see in all the movies when they are using night vision devices). The goggles have a hinged flap on the eyepiece. This can be raised when the wearer is not using the night vision and lowered when night vision is needed. This allows the wearer to flip between the two without having to take off the goggles each time.
