Mattel Mindflex Game
The Mattel Mindflex game will be a popular toy over the Christmas
period as it has elements that will fascinate and intrigue people. Ever since Obi Wan told the imperial
stormtroopers that “These aren't the droids you're looking for...You can go about your business. Move along... move
along.” people have been fascinated by having some sort of mental powers. Well this game gives people the chance to
boast about their mental powers and compete against their friends to find out who is the best. Sure to be a
top Christmas toy for kids this year 2009.
The basic idea behind Mindflex is to move a foam ball around an obstacle course. This might seem a bit
simplistic but the way you do this is with your mind, much like the Jedi Master himself manipulates suggestible
stormtroopers. Yes, you may feel like you are in a science fiction movie but the reality is that it is possible to
move the ball through hoops and other obstacles using your brain waves. The brainwaves are thought to alter the
flow of a jet of air that is holding the ball aloft. By changing your thinking patterns you are able to move the
ball. This game is sure to intrigue and fascinate children and adults and will make an interesting Christmas
gift.
So what do you get in the Mindflex game.
Mindflex is a circular obstacle course. The course is made up of hoops, funnels, tunnels, a teeter tot and a few
other things to keep you interested. There are 5 set games that you can play on the game that involve maneuvering
over or through the obstacles and doing other tasks like shooting the foam balls out of the funnel at a target. If
you master these 5 games then the obstacles are totally customizable. You can set your own course and try to master
this. You can play against the clock or against other players for the best time.
You navigate the foam ball through the course using a combination of a hand console that controls the jet of air
and the headset that controls the direction that the air blows.
Obviously the headset is the most intriguing part of the game and the manufacturer does not reveal how the
system works. What it does say is that you attach a headset that goes round the temple region of the head and some
clips that attach to your earlobes. These devices read your brainwaves. As a player learns to alternately focus and
relax their mind, the ball will respond by rising and falling.
As the player gets more ability over his/her mental states the balls direction can be manipulated and it can be
moved around the course. It is quite an incredible thing to see for the first time and it will take a bit of effort
to actually have this control. The instructions for the game even give you exercises to improve your mental
powers.
What's more it has to be tried out to really understand the how the system works and what you need to do (or
think) to make the ball respond. You can also adjust the difficulty levels if you find it is getting too easy.
