Twilight Barbies - Make Your Own Scenes Up With Edward And Bella Twilight Dolls

This is a perfect gift for a teenage girl or any fan of the Twiligth books and movies (and there are quite a lot of them at recent count. The Twilight Barbies have just been released around the same time as the latest Twilight movie, New Moon went into theaters around the world. With that sort of coordination they are sure to be a best seller over the holiday season and thus are sure to be a top Christmas toy for kids and teenagers this year 2009.

Mattel Twilight Barbie Dolls

Barbie dolls are made by Mattel Toys and celebrate the 50th year in production this year. When a character becomes a Barbie doll, you know that it is a pretty worthwhile character (what next, Edward and Bella on the Simpsons ?) Mattel have cooperated with Summit Entertaiment (makers of the Twilight movies) to produce Bella and Edward Barbie dolls. These are officially licensed merchandise of the Twilight series (they come with Summit logos and tags to prove it).

The actual dolls are standard Barbie Dolls. This means they have the same dimensions as a standard doll. They are approximately 12 inches high. They have bendable legs and a head that swivels side tos ide and up and down. Bella has the Barbie shape and Edward has the Ken body shape.

After that, the dolls become more specifically related to the Twilight characters. What this means is that the heads bear a similarity to the characters (or the actors who portray them - Robert Pattinson and Kirsten Stewart).

The Edward doll has the scruffy/spiky brown hair, very pale skin tone and the undeniable bone structure of the actor. The doll wears black shoes, blue jeans and a light blue buttoned shirt. Over the shirt, he wears a charcoal gray jacket that can also be buttoned up. 

The Bella character has long brown hair, like the actor. Her face is not a distinctively recognizable as the Edward character. Her clothing includes blie/white sneakers, faded, blue/gray jeand and a light blue jacket with zipper and four pockets.  

The clothing and a stand for the dolls has the Summit Entertainment logo to denote that these products are the genuine article. These Barbie Dolls are part of the Pink Label rang of dolls. This is a designation for collectors of Barbie dolls. It indicates that their is no limit to the number of dolls that will be produced of thes echaracters. The packaging also features pink trim with a clear plastic front and sides so that the doll can be viewed clearly without taking out of the packaging.

Twilight Dolls and Action Figures

So far there is only Edward Cullen and Bella Swan dolls but industry insiders suggest a Jacob Black doll will be released soon. Other than that, there are an alternate brand of dolls, which are called action figures. These include all the main characters including Jacob and Alice Cullen.
